the Masonic Lodge of Research

M.L.R. meets at the Masonic Temple Building, 285 Whitney Ave, New Haven, CT.

Welcome!
to Masonic Lodge of Research on the Internet.

sun12The Masonic Law of Research is charted under the Grand Lodge of Connecticut A.F.&A.M.  but differs  from most Lodges in the state.  MLR has only six meetings per year, and does not initiate candidates. Our meetings typically have a short, formal business portion followed by a presentation by a member or guest, or a discussion of Masonic topics.

Any Master Mason in good standing in the Grand Jurisdiction of Connecticut, or any of Grand Jurisdiction recognized by the Grand Lodge of the State of Connecticut A.F.& A.M, is eligible for membership, and is welcome to attend our meetings as a guest.

Some presentations given by Lodge of Research are open to a wider audience, and information about such events will be made available here as they are scheduled.

Our topic of discussion was "What IS a clandestine Lodge?"  Several issues were touched on about Masonid 'regularity" and tolerance for differing  standards around the world and at different points in time.  These issues are becoming mor and more important as Masonry embraces electronic media.
At our May 25 meeting...

Our topic for the discussion was on “The Origins of Freemasonry” The impetus for this is the
research put forth by Tobias Churton in his book “Freemasonry, The Reality”. Along with this, for summer reading, David Harrison’s “The Genesis of Freemasonry” looks to be quite interesting - W.·. Martin Ede
